BETTY DE WITT'S DATE NUT ROLLS | |
2 c. sugar 2 c. boiling water 2 eggs, well beaten 1/2 c. Crisco 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 lb. dates, quartered 4 c. flour 1 c. walnuts, chopped 2 tsp. vanilla Combine water, baking soda and salt. Pour over dates. Let cool. Combine sugar, Crisco and eggs; beat well. Add vanilla. Stir in flour, 1 cup at a time. Fold in dates and nuts. Fill 6, well greased, #2 vegetable cans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
