CAMP BEAN SOUP 
Navy or Northern beans
2 c. fresh water
2 med. size potatoes
1 med. size onion
1/4 lb. salt pork
Salt & pepper to taste

Soak 1 cup of beans overnight. Drain and add 2 cups fresh water. Pare and dice 2 medium size potatoes and onion. Add to pot. Chop fine salt pork and fry until brown; then add to pot. Salt and pepper lightly. Place the pot on the stove and boil for 1 hour. Serves 4.
