1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 2 1/2 tbsp. hot water
3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Cream shortening and sugar well. Add eggs and beat. Add liquids and flour alternately. Add chocolate chips last and mix well. Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
