TURTLE BARS 
1 (14 oz.) bag Kraft caramels
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1 German chocolate cake mix (2 layer size with pudding)
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
6 oz. pkg. semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. ready to spread milk chocolate frosting mix

Melt caramels with 1/3 cup milk over low heat, stirring until smooth. Combine remaining milk, dry cake mix and butter in a bowl; mix well. Press half of mixture into greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degree oven for 6 minutes. Remove from oven; sprinkle 1 cup walnuts and the chocolate chips over crust. Top with the caramel mixture, spreading to edges of pan.

Top with teaspoonsful of remaining cake mixture. Press gently into caramel mixture; sprinkle with remaining walnuts, pressing lightly into the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Add 3 to 4 teaspoons water to frosting mix; stir to desired consistency; drizzle over top of bars. Cool slightly. Refrigerate until set. Cut into 36 pieces.

DIETITIAN'S NOTE:

This recipe is laden with saturated fats, sugar and calories!! I suggest eating only one and sharing with lots of friends. You could always eat it at a turtle's pace for longer enjoyment.
