12 lg. cooking apples (enough water to cook) Cook and put through blender or sieve. 3 c. apple cider 5 c. sugar 2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. ground cloves 1 tsp. allspice Wash and core apples. Cook until soft; put through blender. Add sugar; heat cider to boiling. Add to applesauce and sugar. Cook over medium heat until 1 teaspoon of mix dropped on a cold plate will hold its shape. Stir often to prevent sticking. Add spices while cooking down. Makes 4 pints. Make after full moon to prevent bubbling out. |
