WHOLE WHEAT MUFFINS 
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. white flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 1/2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 tbsp. shortening, melted

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease muffin pans. Sift dry ingredients together. Beat eggs, add milk, shortening and sifted ingredients. Mix only enough to dampen flour. Fill muffin pans 2/3 full. Bake for 25 minutes.
