ROTE GRUTZE (RED GRAINS) 
2 c. fruit juice (strawberries, cherries, raspberries are our favorite, either by themselves or mixed)
Sugar (if needed to sweeten)
1/8 tsp. salt
1/3 c. Farina or substitute
2 1/2 tbsp. tapioca
Heavy cream

Bring fruit juice to boil, add sugar (if needed) and salt. Stir Farina (or tapioca) into boiling juice. Cook over water in double boiler for 20 minutes. Stir until thick. Pour into individual dishes. Chill. Serve very cold with heavy cream or plain. This is a wonderfully light and different dessert. Recipe can be easily doubled.
