PECAN BALLS (COOKIES) 
1 c. shortening
1/4 c. white corn syrup
1/4 c. sugar
2 c. sifted flour
1/8 tsp. salt
2 c. pecans, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening, add sugar and syrup, then flour, salt and vanilla. Mix well and add chopped nuts. Form into small balls on greased baking sheet. Bake at 300 degrees 40 to 45 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar while still hot. Cool and roll in powdered sugar again. Makes about 100 cookies.
