LIGHT ROLLS | |
1 qt. milk 1/2 c sugar 1 pkg. yeast or 1 cake Fleischmann 2 tbsp. shortening 1 tbsp. salt 6 to 7 1/2 c. flour Heat milk to lukewarm. Take 1/2 cup of milk, 1 tablespoon sugar and yeast. Let stand. Heat rest of milk just to boiling point. Set off, add shortening and sugar. When cooled, add enough flour (4 to 5 cups) to make batter-like cake, add yeast. Let rise until light. Add flour to make a stiff dough. Let rise again. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter. Place in greased pan. Grease tops and let rise. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 425 degrees. If you keep stirred down, can keep 3 to 4 days in refrigerator. |
