1 1/2 c. unsifted flour
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. salad oil
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. cold water

Sift flour with sugar, cocoa, soda and salt into an ungreased 9 inch square pan. Make 3 depressions. Distribute the oil, the vinegar and the vanilla among the depressions then pour the water over all. With a slotted spoon - mix thoroughly. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool in pan on rack. Serves 9.
