GOLDEN EGG NOG | |
1/2 c sugar 3 egg yolks 1/4 tsp salt 4 c milk Meringue: 3 egg whites 1/8 tsp salt 1/4 c sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla nutmeg Beat sugar, eggs yolks and salt together. Stir in the milk slowly. Cook over medium heat until mixture coats spoon, stirring constantly. Cool. Add the salt to egg whites and beat slightly. Next add the sugar and beat until stiff. Fold the meringue into cooked egg nog. Add vanilla and top with nutmeg. The egg nog will keep in the refrigerator for up to 14 days. Stir well before serving. This recipe is great for a crowd. *Follow directions as indicated above. But add the ingredients as follows for a crowd. 2 c sugar, 1 doz. egg yolks, 1 tsp salt, 1 gal milk. Meringue: 1 doz egg whites, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 c sugar, 2 tsp vanilla, nutmeg. |
