DATE SANDWICH BREAD OR CAKE 
1 pkg. pasteurized dates, stoned and cut
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. boiling water
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. butter or substitute
2 eggs, well beaten
3 c. white flour
1 c. chopped nuts

Sprinkle level teaspoon baking soda over dates. Add to this boiling water and allow to cool. In separate mixing bowl, cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, flour and nuts. Add date mixture and stir well. Turn into greased pans and bake in moderate oven about 40 minutes. This makes 2 good - sized loaves or 48 small cakes. Always good but better each day you can keep it.
