FUNNY CAKE PIE 
pastry for 9-inch crust

Top Part:

1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Bottom Part:

1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
1/3 c. hot water
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Mix Top Part like cake batter, creaming shortening. Add sugar and egg. Add milk alternating with sifted dry ingredients.

For Bottom Part: Combine cocoa and sugar. Add hot water and vanilla.

Line pie plate with pastry. Add lower part first and then spoon Top Part over it. (Make sure the batter is sealed with the dough so the chocolate does not bake out over the crust.)

Bake at 350°F for approximately 40 minutes.

Makes one 9-inch pie.
