SPLIT PEA SOUP | |
1 lb. split peas 1/2 lb. dried lentils 3 qts. water 2 c. diced ham 1 onion, chopped 1 tbsp. garlic salt, optional 1 c. carrots, diced 1 c. celery, diced Salt and pepper to taste Cover split peas and lentils with water. Cook gently for 1 hour, remove from heat and let sit for 2 to 3 hours. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until peas and lentils are tender. |
