1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter (scant) or substitute sour cream (is best)
1/2 c. thick sour milk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. hot water

Dissolve soda in hot water. Mix all ingredients. Bake at 325 or 350 degrees or until tested done.
