EDITHS HOMEMADE ROLLS AND
CINNAMON ROLLS

1/2 cake yeast
1 1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 egg, beaten
1 3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening (Crisco or Spry)
1 c. sugar
5 to 5 1/4 c. flour

Put flour in large bowl. Add yeast, water, sugar, salt, egg and Crisco in flour. Mix until soft enough to knead, grease bowl, cover raise until it is double. Work down and let raise until double again. Shape into rolls. Bake at 375 to 400 degrees about 25 to 30 minutes. Grease top with butter and butter. Eat warm.

There is also a good recipe for cinnamon buns. After you knead it, roll, spread with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Bake same as rolls. When removed from oven, while still hot, pour a syrup of brown sugar, chunk of butter and water over then eat hot.

This is my go to recipe for hot rolls, and every one loves them. The only change I make is a packet of yeast rather than 1/2 cake of yeast.
