SWEET PICKLED PRUNES 
4 lb. prunes
2 lb. sugar
2 c. vinegar
1/2 oz. cloves
1 stick cinnamon
1/2 oz. whole ginger

Wash prunes well. Soak in cold water for 24 hours. Then, bring them to a boil in the same water. Boil together sugar, vinegar and spices for 10 minutes. Add prunes, drained from water.. Simmer gently until tender. When cold put in jars, seal closely.

What to serve with meat? Currant jelly with mutton or venison. Sour grape jelly or cranberry jelly with turkey or duck. Cranberry with chicken. Apple sauce with pork or goose.
