1 recipe basic roll dough 1 c. cream 2 c. fruit (rhubarb, apples, peaches, raisins, or other fruit, thinly sliced) 2 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1 stick butter Cinnamon Prepare the basic roll dough. After it has been punched down, divide it into 16 equal pieces. Allow dough to rest for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the topping in a separate bowl by mixing the sugar, flour and butter. This mixture should be crumbly. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Take 4 pieces of the dough. Roll each into a circle slightly larger than the bottom of a pie pan, just big enough to cover the bottom of the pan and extend about 1/2 inch up the sides. Place rolled-out dough into pie pans and allow to rise for 10 minutes. After it has risen, spread 1 tablespoon cream on each kuchen. Then sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of fruit on each one. Put a generous 1/4 cup of the topping mixture on each kuchen. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake until nicely browned, about 17 minutes. (While these are baking, prepare four more.) As soon as the kuchen comes out of the oven, they should be removed from the pans and allowed to cool on a rack. |
