HONEY-OATMEAL BREAD 
1 c. boiling water
1 c. rolled oats
1/3 c. soft shortening
1/2 c. honey
1 tbsp. salt
2 pkgs. yeast
1 c. warm water
1 egg
4-5 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Butter

Stir boiling water, oats, shortening, honey and salt together in a large mixing bowl. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Measure out flour. Add dissolved yeast and water, egg and 2 cups of flour to first mixture. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed or until batter is smooth. Stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter. Spread batter evenly in 2 greased 9"x5"x3" loaf pans. Cover; let rise in a warm place for 1 1/2 hours. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes at 375 degrees. Remove from pans. Brush with melted butter.
