BERRY TORTE 
1 pkg. Sunshine or Nabisco Vanilla Wafers
3 tbsp. powdered sugar
1/3 c. butter
1 c. whipping cream whipped and flavored with 2 tbsp. powdered sugar and 1/2 tsp. vanilla, OR 1 c. Cool Whip
1 1/2 c. raspberries or strawberries, fresh or well drained if frozen.
If you use fresh berries, mash or slice and sweeten to taste
3/4 c. slivered almonds, divided

Crush wafers and mix half of wafer crumbs, 3 tablespoons powdered sugar and enough of the butter to hold the crumbs together. Press the crumb/butter mixture against the bottom of pan. Spread 1/2 cup of the sliced almonds over the crumb layer. Then spread the berries over the crumbs. (If using raspberries, crush a bit first; if using strawberries, slice them first.) Spread whipped cream OR Cool Whip over the berries. Sprinkle the rest of the wafer crumbs over the layer of whipped cream, and sprinkle the rest of the almonds over the crumbs. Refrigerate six hours or overnight.
