GIGI'S GINGERSNAPS 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
Dash of salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in whole egg. Add molasses and sifted dry ingredients a little at a time. Mix well. Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls. Dip top in granulated sugar. Put on cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until slightly cracked. Cool a few minutes, then transfer to rack.
