BEEF UPSIDE DOWN PIE | |
1 1/2 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. paprika 1 tsp. celery salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 5 tbsp. shortening 3/4 c. milk (or 1/2 and 1/2 water) 1/4 c. sliced onion 1 can condensed tomato soup 1/2 lb. ground beef raw (I usually use 1 lb.) Sift together flour, baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, paprika, celery salt and pepper. Add milk and stir until blended. Melt remaining 2 tablespoons shortening in 9 inch frying pan, and cook until onions are soft. Add tomato soup, remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and ground meat. Bring to boil. Spread baking powder mixture on top of meat mixture and bake in hot oven at 475 degrees for about 20 minutes. Turn out upside down on large plate. |
