GINGER COOKIE CUT-OUTS 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 egg
2 tbsp. dark corn syrup
4 tsp. grated orange peel
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cloves

Thoroughly cream together sugar and butter. Add egg; beat until light and fluffy. Add corn syrup and orange peel; mix well. Stir together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, salt and cloves. Stir into creamed mixture. Chill dough thoroughly. On lightly floured surface roll the dough 1/4 inch thick. Cut with assorted cookie cutters.

Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool 1 minute before removing from pan. Cool on rack. Decorate with powdered sugar frosting as desired.
