SAUERKRAUT & APPLES 
1 1/2 lb. sauerkraut, drained
1/3 c. sliced onion
3 tbsp. butter or bacon fat
3 apples, peeled & sliced
1 1/3 c. dry white wine
1/3 c. chicken broth, fresh or canned
1 pinch of brown sugar
1/2 tsp. caraway seeds

In large skillet saute onion in butter until tender, but not brown. Add sauerkraut and cook at medium heat 10 minutes. Add apples, wine and chicken broth and cook for additional 20 minutes. Add remaining ingredients, cook and bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for 25 minutes or until sauerkraut is tender. Makes 4 servings.
