MOM MERCER'S FRUIT COBBLER | |
1 stick butter 1 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. sugar 3/4 c. milk 1 pt. sweetened fruit Melt butter in a 2-quart baking dish. Sift dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Add milk and stir into a batter. Pour this mixture over melted butter. Pour fruit over the batter and bake 1 hour at 300°F. The batter will rise to the top and the fruit will be on the bottom. Mom always warmed the fruit and sometimes sprinkled sugar over the batter before baking. |
