FRESH ORANGE SORBET 
2 1/2 c. water
1 c. sugar
Orange rind strips from 2 oranges
2 2/3 c. fresh orange juice
1/3 c. fresh lemon juice

Combine water and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Add orange rind strips; reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Pour mixture through a wire mesh strainer, discarding orange rind strips; cool completely.

Stir in orange juice and lemon juice, and pour mixture into freezer container of a 1 gallon hand turned or electric freezer. Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Pack freezer with additional ice and rock salt, and let stand 1 hour before serving. Yield: 6 servings.
