COOKIES FOR CUTTING 
1 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl mix flour and salt, then mix with butter, egg and sugar mixture. Chill dough 3 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out to 1/8 inch thick on floured surface. Cut into any shape with floured cutters. Bake on greased cookie sheet 8 to 12 minutes; cool. Glaze with mixture of confectioners sugar, water and food coloring (make like paint consistency), then sprinkle with assorted sprinkles while still wet. Great for any holiday or occasion.
