2 2/3 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 4-5 tbsp. shortening 1 c. buttermilk Sift dry ingredients together; add shortening. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender. When well mixed, stir milk quickly into flour mixture with a fork. Use only enough milk to form a light, soft but not sticky dough. Roll dough not more than 1/2 inch thick. Bake at 450 degrees for approximately 12 minutes. Serve hot. Makes 12-16. |
