DEEP SOUTH POUND CAKE 
1 c. butter
3 c. sugar
1/2 c. cooking oil
5 lg. eggs
Juice and grated rind of 1 lemon (rind optional)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sweet milk
3 2/3 c. cake flour

Cream butter, sugar and add oil, 2 tablespoons at a time. Add eggs one at a time, beating slightly after each addition. Then add lemon juice, rind and salt. Add the milk and flour alternately; end with flour.

Pour into a well-greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 25 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on a cake rack.

I had this recipe years ago and lost it....then I found it here!! This is one of the best cakes I have ever made....the only thing different I do is also add 1 tsp. vanilla. It has the softest texture and it melts in your mouth...beautiful used as layers also. With a lemon buttercream icing....to die for !!!
