MOTHER'S COCONUT CLASSICS 
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
3 1/2 c. coconut
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. white corn syrup
1 c. pecan halves

GLAZE:

1 egg yolk
1 tbsp. cream

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add vanilla and coconut. Add flour and soda (mixed). Add salt. Mix well. Divide dough into rolls. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill until stiff or overnight.

Slice in 1/2" slices. Put on cookie sheet. Brush with egg yolk and cream mixture. Place pecan half on top. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown. Take from oven and brush top with hot corn syrup.
