MONTGOMERY PIE 
SYRUP PART:

1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. water
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 lemon, juice & rind

Combine above ingredients and pour into a 9" unbaked pie shell.

TOPPING:

2/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour

Blend butter and sugar, add egg and beat well. Add milk and sifted dry ingredients, a little at a time. Spread topping over mixture in the pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
