EXTRA CRISP SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. butter
2 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
5 c. flour (unsifted)
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 c. sugar
1 c. salad oil
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, salad oil, salt and vanilla. Sift flour, soda and cream of tartar together and add to first mixture. Mix until smooth. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheet with teaspoon, or roll into balls and then into granulated sugar. Press down with fork or bottom of glass.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned. They stay nice and crisp when stored. Yield: 10 dozen cookies.

Optional: Divide dough into three parts. Leave one part plain. Add coconut to second part and chopped nuts to third.
