BUTTERMILK CANDY 
Recipe may be doubled.

2 cups sugar
1 cup buttermilk
2 tbsp. light corn syrup (Karo)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
1 cup chopped pecans

Combine sugar, buttermilk, syrup, baking soda and butter in large pan. Cook to soft ball stage (234-240°F on candy thermometer); remove from heat.

Add vanilla and salt; beat well. Add pecans and drop from teaspoon.

Cooks Note: Use of a candy thermometer is recommended.
