SKILLET DINNER 
2 tbsp. shortening
6 oz. vermicelli noodles broken in small pieces
1 lb. ground beef
2 sm. onions, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
4 stalks celery, thinly sliced
1 c. or 1 can whole kernel corn
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. chili powder
1 (#2 1/2) can tomatoes
3/4 c. water
1 (8 oz.) pkg. American cheese slices

Melt shortening in a 10 inch electric skillet at 300 degrees. Saute dry vermicelli noodles until lightly browned, stirring occasionally. Add beef and stir as it browns. Stir in all other items (except cheese). Stir gently. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes.

Place cheese slices on top and cook 3 to 5 minutes more. Serve from skillet.
