CAKE DOUGHNUTS 
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 c. milk

Sift flour, baking powder, cornstarch and salt 3 times. In a separate bowl, cream butter with sugar; add eggs and beat. Add milk alternately with flour mixture. Turn out on a well-floured board and roll to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into doughnuts. Let stand about 5 minutes.

Fry in deep fat, about 375°F temperature. Turn once; brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels. While hot, dust with cinnamon and sugar or enjoy plain.

Makes about 2 dozen.
