SYRIAN BREAD | |
3 1/2 c. flour 1 pkg. yeast 1 1/4 c. hot tap water 2 tsp. salt Mix 1 cup flour, yeast, salt in bowl. Mix well. Gradually add water. Beat 2 minutes, medium speed. Add 1 cup flour. Beat 2 minutes high speed. Add rest of flour. Mix with wooden spoon. Put on floured board on knead 5 minutes until elastic. Divide into 8 balls (16 if smaller ones desired). Roll each until flat - 4 inch circle (2 inches if making smaller ones). Rest 45 minutes. Bake at 500 degrees on greased sheet with bottom side up about 10 minutes. For pita bread, limit salt to 1/4 teaspoon and add 1 teaspoon sugar. |
