SCALLOPED OYSTERS 
1 pt. select oysters
1 can of oysters
1/4 lb. butter
Salt and white pepper (to taste)
Dash of red pepper
1/2 pt. half and half cream
1 1/2 c. cracker crumbs
1/2 c. bread crumbs

Butter casserole dish. Make a layer of half the crumbs. Place oysters on crumbs. Put half the butter over oysters. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add another layer of crumbs. Add remaining butter. Cover with cream and remaining butter and sprinkle with red pepper. Let stand 1 hour before baking. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Place under broiler for 2 or 3 minutes to brown on top.
