HERMIT CAKE 
1 lb. sugar (2 c.)
1 lb. raise (2 c.) raisins
1 lb. butter
4 c. all-purpose flour
10 eggs
1 lb. dates 1/2 black walnuts
1 c. Brazil nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. English walnuts

Cream butter and sugar together and add egg one at a time beating well between each egg. Fold in flour until it will float on water when a little is dropped in a cup of water. With some extra flour, coat nuts and dates. Add to batter and mix well. Pour batter in mold and bake 2 hours or until done at 275 degrees.
