2 cups brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 cup milk
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, beat well. Alternate adding dry and liquid ingredients. Drop by spoonful on cookie sheets. Bake at 350°F for 9 minutes. Watch cookies as they tend to stick.

ICING:

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
3 cups confectioners' sugar, divided
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 cup milk

Beat butter, 1 cup of confectioners' sugar, and vanilla. Add milk, add more confectioners' sugar until right consistency.
