Mix 1/2 cup butter, 2 cups sugar, 4 eggs, well beaten.

Add 2 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 1/2 cups buttermilk. Then add the candy mixture and 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 cup chopped nuts (if desired). Put into greased and floured Bundt pan or cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
