CORN BREAD 
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. sugar
1 c. yellow corn meal
3 tbsp. melted shortening
1 1/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 eggs, well beaten

Sift flour once; measure. Add baking powder, salt, soda and sugar and sift again. Add corn meal. Combine milk and eggs. Add to dry ingredients, mixing well.

Bake in greased shallow pan in hot oven (425°F) 40 minutes or until done.

May also be baked in corn stick pan.
