SWEET PICKLES 
2 qts. or 1/2 gallon sour pickles
3-4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 box pickling spice (1 1/4 oz. box)
Cheese cloth needed

Drain pickles; dispose of juice. Rinse and cut pickles in slices. In glass or crock bowl (not aluminum) mix sugar and pickles; stir well. Place 1/2 box pickling spice in cheese cloth. Tie and put into bowl with pickles. Stir often and leave out of refrigerator about 4 days. Put pickles back into original jars (if desired) and refrigerate. If desired, place 5 or 6 cloves of garlic, chopped, into 1/2 of recipe. Yield 2 quarts.
