SCOTTISH OAT BISCUITS 
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup cold water

Mix dry ingredients together. Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Add water. Mix well.

Turn out onto a floured surface and knead lightly. Roll or pat out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into squares or circles. Place onto a prepared cookie sheet.

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes or until the tops begin to turn brown.

Best served warm with butter and jam for breakfast.
