FUDGE-OATMEAL COOKIES 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped pecans
2 1/2 c. quick-cooking oatmeal

Combine sugar, milk, cocoa and butter in saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. Remove from heat.

Add vanilla and nuts and mix well. Add oatmeal and blend thoroughly. (Do not use instant oatmeal.) Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper. Do not bake; these are ready to eat.

Sometimes I add 1/2 cup peanut butter with mixture in saucepan.

Makes 4 dozen.
