RED VELVET CAKE 
1 stick butter
1 box white cake mix
2 oz. red food coloring
1 lg. pkg. instant chocolate pudding
4 eggs
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 c. water
1/2 tsp. baking soda

NO COOK ICING:

1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. milk
3 heaping tbsp. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

ICING: Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar, milk, flour, and vanilla. Beat about 12 minutes at high speed. (Make half this amount to ice a sheet cake.)

CAKE: Cream butter, add cake mix, pudding. (Add to the 1 cup water, 1 oz. red food coloring.) Add other oz. of food coloring to batter. Blend 3 minutes. (Stir in by hand the vinegar and soda.) Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Makes 3 (8-inch) layers. Ice with no cook icing.
