TOM CLEMENT'S SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 c. liquid vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. butter
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Mix sugar, eggs, butter, and oil together. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture. Add vanilla and roll in balls. Flatten with a glass which has been dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Don't overbake.

Note: Put dough in refrigerator before rolling balls. Easier to handle. Tom says he loves these with black walnuts and walnut extract added.
