MELT - IN - YOUR - MOUTH SUGAR
COOKIES
 
1 c. butter
3/4 c. granulated sugar, scant
3/4 c. powdered sugar
3/4 c. Crisco salad oil (scant)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, well beaten
4 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream shortenings, sugars and oil well. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add, mixing dough well. Refrigerate for a couple hours. Roll into balls. Press down with sugared fork or cover glass bottom with damp cloth and press down. Can be sprinkled with sugar or a few chopped nuts.

Bake about 10 minutes at 375 degrees, according to how thin you have pressed them. I like them lightly browned around the edges.
