APPLE DUMPLINGS 
PASTRY:

2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. shortening

SAUCE:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. butter

Mix flour, salt, baking powder. Add shortening; working until the size of small peas. Add milk slowly, mixing it into the flour and shortening. Cut apples into quarters. Roll out a circle of dough. Place four pieces of apple on it, and bring dough up almost to cover but leaving enough room for steam to escape. Put dumplings in baking pan and pour syrup around them. Should come 1/4 way up. Bake at 375 degrees until pastry is brown and apples tender.
