JAM CAKE 
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. blackberry jam
6 eggs
3 tsp. cinnamon
3 tsp. allspice
3 tsp. cloves

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add flour and spices alternately with buttermilk. Add jam and mix well. Bake in loaf or layers at 350 degrees.

FROSTING:

2 unbeaten egg whites
1 1/2 c. sugar
Dash of salt
1/3 c. water
2 tsp. white corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat 1 minute and cook in double boiler, beating constantly about 7 minutes. Remove from heat; add 1 teaspoon vanilla and beat about 1 minute. Spread on cake.
