SHORTBREAD COOKIES 
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. sugar
3 c. plain flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add salt and flour in about four parts to the butter mixture. Mix well. Put in lightly greased pan (11 1/2 x 8 inches). Press 1/4 inch thick and mark with tynes of fork. Bake approximately 1 hour at 325 degrees. Cut while hot, cool in pan and keep in tight container after removing from pan.
